What have we accomplished

In 21 years in business, ABS brokers have placed approximately $4B of fixed annuity premium.  We have also placed approximately $200MM of fixed life insurance premium, as well as some LTC and Disability premium. We have over 7,000 licensed agents located in all 50 states.

What is our history

In January 1997, Steve Delaney, Dan Dubyk, and Dan Smyth decided to leave North Star Marketing (John Alden Life) and start ABS. It was a big step, we were the management team of the regional office and we had a lot of success there. In the end, we had a dream that we had to try to achieve. We wanted to run our own brokerage, our way. We thought, since we had all been field agents and managers, that we could bring a perspective that many of the other BGAs didn’t have. We felt we could help advisors achieve their goals of protecting consumers because we had been doing it ourselves.

What is ABS

ABS is an insurance Brokerage General Agency (BGA).  We work with financial professionals who are certified to sell insurance. Those advisors come to us with information and ideas about planning for their clients, and we offer insurance products that will fit their needs and objectives.  We leverage our relationships with insurance companies in order to find the product that may best fit their client’s needs.   We feel ABS is in a position to provide unique solutions through our proprietary case design software/platform.   Twenty one years later, we have grown to over 7,000 licensed advisors.  Our clients include some of the top brokers in the industry, as well as some insurance companies and banks. We work with any broker whose primary goal is either protection, savings, or retirement planning.  We are experts in four main categories of products: Life Insurance, Long Term Care Insurance, Disability Insurance and Annuities.  We represent more than 80 top-rated carriers, which is necessary, as each company may have products with unique features, options, and requirements.  So how do you know which is the best for you?  That’s where we come in.

Why we do it

In the end, we know our customers, the agents, advisors and registered representatives we support want to do the best job and the right thing for the consumer.   At our core, we know that everything the financial professional is putting together, and thus our actions here at ABS stand to make a difference in the lives of countless others.  A family continues on after the loss of a father or mother.  Employees and business continue on after the loss of a business owner.  A retiree is enjoying what really are their golden years, visiting with family and friends, and vacationing regularly without fear of ever outliving their money.  A mother maintains her dignity and grace while receiving assisted living in her own home or a facility.  Life goes, expenses are covered, and meals are on the table despite the challenges of an illness or injury.

We’re in the insurance business and damn proud of it! We understand the perception of insurance – but the products, services and case design we provide can give people more than just comfort that protections are on place.   Thanks to our platform the clients of those we support can look forward to sound protection and perhaps a 30 year vacation called retirement!  That’s honestly the way we think here at ABS.    Yes, we all want to think “it won’t happen to me,” but bad things happen unexpectedly… things that are beyond our control.  The insurance solutions we represent make unfortunate events more manageable.  ABS’s purpose is to partner with the financial professional to help protect lifestyles and provide peace of mind.

We represent a lot of insurance companies and their products, but that’s not what distinguishes us from other distributors. Our team is driven and focused on doing what’s right for the consumer and thus for the broker.
